Nicole Polizzi (born November 23, 1987), publicly known by her nickname Snooki, is an American reality television personality who appeared on the MTV reality show Jersey Shore starting in 2009.

Nicole Polizzi was born in Santiago, Chile. Polizzi is of Italian Chilean descent,[3] and was adopted and raised by Italian American parents Her nickname, Snooki, was given to her by her friends in middle school, and is based on the character “Snooki” from the film Save the Last Dance because she was the first of her friends to make out with a boy.
MTV first introduced Polizzi in the first season of “Is She Really Going Out with Him?”, a show that tells the story of “sweet girls” and the “douchebags” they date. Season 1, Episode 14 tells the story of Polizzi and Justin the “Jerz Pud”.
Polizzi became part of the reality TV series Jersey Shore which first aired on MTV December 3, 2009. The New York Times identified her as “the breakout member of the cast” [8]Her actions on the show have caused her to be the target of public disdain while having a strange appeal.
