Nicola Maria Roberts is an English singer, dancer and actress, most famous for being a member of UK pop group Girls Aloud. Nicola appeared as a guest-judge on Britain’s Next Top Model, Cycle 6, and has her own makeup range entitled, Dainty Doll.

Girls Aloud were formed after auditioning for a UK TV show, Popstars: The Rivals. Roberts was originally eliminated before the final stage, but was brought back into the final ten after another contestant, Nicola Ward, pulled out of the show after objecting to the show’s contract. Roberts started her career singing with a girl group at her local discotheque with a local DJ. She also attended Olwen Grounds school of Dance, where she sang solos to small audiences in the Queens Hall in Widnes, Cheshire. During the Popstars: The Rivals, she sang “River Deep – Mountain High”, “Shout”, “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “I’m So Excited”, and choosing Shakira’s Underneath Your Clothes for her audition, getting mainly positive comments from the judges. She became the second girl to join Girls Aloud after never being in the bottom four. She is the youngest member of the group.
