Gwen Renée Stefani is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and fashion designer. Stefani is the lead vocalist for the rock band No Doubt.
Much of her clothing was made by her or her mother. As a child, Stefani’s musical interests consisted of musicals such as The Sound of Music and Evita. After making a demo tape for her father, she was encouraged to take music lessons to train her “loopy, unpredictable” voice.

First attracting attention in the 1995 music video for “Just a Girl”, Stefani is known for her midriff and frequently wears shirts that expose it. Stefani’s makeup design generally includes light face powder, bright red lipstick, and arched eyebrows; she wrote about the subject in a song titled “Magic’s in the Makeup” for No Doubt’s Return of Saturn, asking “If the magic’s in the makeup/Then who am I?”.
