Hancock Bank Customer Service Phishing Alert!

2011/03/25

Hancock Bank has sent out two phishing alert messages over the last couple of weeks. Although these messages were only sent to Hancock Bank customers it’s a good idea to understand that scammers are out there trying to obtain your banking information so they can steal your money. Never give your information online or on the phone to anyone you are not completely sure is working on behalf of you and your bank. The two alerts are below…

Hancock Bank takes every reasonable precaution to protect our e-Banking users against online fraud, and to inform them of any fraudulent communications. Recently, Hancock Bank has been alerted to a phishing attempt.

Please be aware if you have received an email addressed to Dear Valued Customer or Dear Hancock Customer that these emails are fraudulent! The e-mails may also reference irregular activity and security server upgrades. DO NOT open the email or click on any links within the email and delete the email from your inbox. Contact customer service with additional questions. Thank you!

Vishing (Voice Phishing) is the criminal practice of using social engineering over the telephone system to gain access to private personal and financial information from the public for the purpose of financial reward. Customer service has received several calls from customers advising of unsolicited calls indicating their card may have been compromised and asking to verify non-public personal information. Please DO NOT verify ANY personal information to these types of telephone requests.

The two known scenarios are outlined below: One scenario: A call was placed to a customer saying they were Hancock Bank Security and asked them for all of their card information. Second scenario: A call from Great Southern Bank (automated) was received by a customer saying their card had been frozen due to fraud and is instructed to “push 1” to re-activate their card. Although associates from Electronic Banking Services do call customers to verify debit card purchases (calling to confirm a purchase on this date at this location in the amount of “x” dollars), we DO NOT ask customers to provide their non-public personal information.

Kimesia Smith

Kimesia Smith

Employees dialed 9-1-1 for help, as one bikini-clad woman, later identified as Kimesia Smith of Montgomery, Ala., jumped up on the counter and threw a charity coin jug at employees, and 3 of Smith’s friends also began throwing napkins, utensils, and trays throughout the location.

The ignorant, uneducated, stupid, violent, bikini-clad deviant, suddenly became concerned about the whereabouts of her two children after Panama City Beach Police placed her in handcuffs. Kimesia was taken to the Bay County Jail on charges of simple battery.

I’m sure your children are fine Kimesia, since they are being raised by such a socially well-adjusted, responsible Mother. I’m fairly certain they will one day be well-adjusted citizens that are productive to society.

Wilson pled guilty and was sentenced to one year in jail, suspended for 24

“We at the Department of Industrial Relations want people to know that we are
aggressively pursuing cases of unemployment compensation fraud,” said Tom Surtees, Alabama Department Of Revenue.

“Especially in these economic times, we want to make sure that all who are entitled to
benefits receive them. But at the same time, we will not allow those who deliberately try
to defraud the system to go unpunished. We are working with local District Attorney
Offices to make sure that we can identify and prosecute those individuals who are
committing these crimes.”

Craigslist Rapist Found Dead

A man facing nearly 30 years in prison for raping three women who had advertised in the “erotic services” section of Craigslist apparently committed suicide in his Kansas jail cell.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says David Lee Gage of Wichita was found dead around 6:10 a.m. Monday at the county jail.

The 52-year-old from Wichita had been in custody since August 2008. He was awaiting transfer to prison after being convicted in May of seven felony counts, including three counts of rape.

Prosecutors say Gage met the women at motels, then flashed a federal marshal’s badge and threatened to arrest them for prostitution if they didn’t have sex with him.

The sheriff’s office says it’s the first suicide in that jail since 2006.

Drew Peterson Arrested

Drew Peterson Arrested

Drew Peterson, anxiously awaiting starting his new job at the Cathouse (the Moonlight Bunny Ranch Brothel) has his plans foiled by the Sheriff’s office of Will County, Illinois who arrested and charged him with first-degree murder in the 2004 drowning death of Kathleen Savio his third wife. The ex-cop now wears a red jumpsuit, handcuffeds and had shackles around his legs.

Drew’s 4th wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared 19 months ago and hasn’t been seen since.

The news was bittersweet for Stacy Peterson’s family, who continue to wait for news about her disappearance.

“We have anticipated this coming. We have dreamed about it. We have been patient over it,” family spokeswoman Pam Bosco told WLS. “Now that it’s here, it’s almost a little bit calm. We’re waiting for the storm to calm now. The calm before the storm.”

Dennis Hof runs the Moonlight Bunny Ranch brothel made famous by its HBO show “Cathouse,” said in a new interview with Derek Hartley and Romaine Patterson on Sirius XM’s OutQ radio that it was his offering drew a job running the Brothel that lead to the arrest of Peterson.

“Absolutely, there’s no question about it,” Dennis said. “There hasn’t been one bit of talk about arresting this guy and all of a sudden he’s coming to the Bunny Ranch, they grab him. They were afraid he was a flight risk and was not coming back.”

Peterson was arrested on Thursday and indicted for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Savio was found in a bathtub on March 1, 2004, and was initially ruled an accidental drowning. Stacy has been missing since October 2007.

“We would cancel the show before doing a stunt like this,” an HBO rep said in a statement to Access.

Hof told Derek and Romaine that the offer he made to former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

He claims the ex-governor’s people turned down the offer thanks to Blagojevich’s legal situation, which is also keeping him off the reality show, NBC’s upcoming “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”
