Bake sale and silent auction to raise money for Henslee children
HARTFORD, Mich. (WZZM)-His Place: Hartford Community Center is opening its doors Sunday to help the family of Amy Henslee, a woman murdered in Van Buren County.

The center will hold a spaghetti dinner, bake sale and silent auction to raise money for Amy Henslee’s children. The dinner is free, but visitors are encouraged to make a donation.
The man who started a Facebook memorial page for Henslee says he’s impressed with West Michigan’s response to tragedy.
“We’ve been overwhelmed with the response, not only from this community but the whole area, from Grand Rapids to Muskegon to Kalamazoo,” says Josh Fairbanks. “It really means everything, to see all these people that didn’t even know this town existed, thad didn’t know the family, come out and support people in need. It’s a great reaction to a horrible event, to see the good of people rise up and overshadow the horrible tragedy that happened.”
Organizers expect up to 1,000 people will take part in Sunday’s fundraiser. It runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the community center.
Investigators discovered the bodies of stay-at-home mom Amy Henslee, 30, and 36-year-old Tonya Howarth in Bangor Township, burried about 60 miles southwest of Grand Rapids, after a tracker dog found traces of blood in the area Thursday afternoon.
“It appears that they both died of multiple gunshot wounds,” Van Buren County Prosecutor Juris Kaps told reporters at a news conference in Paw Paw. Junior Lee Beebe, a cousin of Amy’s husband, has been arrested for the murders.
