While Obama’s voters expected immediate economic help to raise their standard of living the top stories in the last three days have been of other issues most Americans have little interest in.
Obama himself has signaled, for example, that he intends to reverse Bush’s controversial limit on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, a decision that scientists say has restrained their ability to obtain more fetus’s, which are killed in the process.
The new president is also expected to lift a so-called global gag rule barring international family planning groups that receive U.S. aid from counseling women about the availability of abortion, said Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
“We have been communicating with his transition staff” almost daily, Richards said. “We expect to see a real change.” This will increase the amount of taxes we pay to abort babies here and in other countries. Not exactly popular even among right to choicers.
They indicated Obama would overturn a Bush policy that prevents forcing taxpayers to fund groups that perform or promote abortions in other countries. Known as the Mexico City Policy and first instituted during the Reagan administration, President Bush expanded the policy to make sure no State Department funding goes to the pro-abortion groups.
Obama would also overturn President Bush’s policy against funding any new embryonic stem cell research.
Put in place in August 2001, the policy prevents taxpayers from paying for new embryonic research that involves the destruction of human life. Bush directed most of the public funding for the science to adult stem cells, which are more ethical and have proven more effective than their embryonic counterparts.
Embryonic stem cells, in addition to including the destruction of days-old unborn children, has yet to work in humans because of significant problems after they are injected into the body — ranging from the growth of tumors to immune system rejection issues.
The Washington Post reports that the transition team members are working with top special interest groups and leading pro-abortion members of Congress on prioritizing the executive orders that Obama will reverse.
So after taking the entire motorcade to the gym so he could get his workout in, a call from Planned Parenthood President (a multimillion dollar campaign donor) to discuss funding for providing worldwide abortions at taxpayers expense and a discussion about how many billions the auto executives will receive, (another multi-million dollar donor) its back to Chicago for a photo-op press conference with some of the circus clowns that will making decisions for our nation. I saw Robert B. Reich there peeking over the podium, Janet Reno and Joycelyn Elders can’t be far behind.
While Obama said at a news conference last week that his top priority would be to stimulate the economy and create jobs, the news is reporting teams being assembled to work on changing existing orders that tend to stifle corporate profits for companies among his top campaign donors. Seems Barack Obama’s first order is to make abortion safe, legal and plentiful as well as force American tax payers that believe abortion is murder to pay for it.
I guess Obama will get to “We the People” eventually.
