There is a new combatant in the Christmas wars.
Just in from FOXNews….
Ads proclaiming, “Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness’ sake,” will appear on Washington, D.C., buses starting next week and running through December. The American Humanist Association unveiled the provocative $40,000 holiday ad campaign Tuesday.

In lifting lyrics from “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” the Washington-based group is wading into what has become a perennial debate over commercialism, religion in the public square and the meaning of Christmas.
“We are trying to reach our audience, and sometimes in order to reach an audience, everybody has to hear you,” said Fred Edwords, spokesman for the humanist group. “Our reason for doing it during the holidays is there are an awful lot of agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays because of its association with traditional religion.”
To that end, the ads and posters will include a link to a Web site that will seek to connect and organize like-minded thinkers in the D.C. area, Edwords said.
Edwords said the purpose isn’t to argue that God doesn’t exist or change minds about a deity, although “we are trying to plant a seed of rational thought and critical thinking and questioning in people’s minds.”
The group defines humanism as “a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism, affirms our responsibility to lead ethical lives of value to self and humanity.”
Last month, the British Humanist Association caused a ruckus announcing a similar campaign on London buses with the message: “There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.”
The most interesting thing about this story is Fred Edwords own words “agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays”,
I can imagine these groups “feel a little alone” everyday not allowing themselves to feel the love of our Heavenly Father watching over them as they go about all the their days of their lives.

“Our reason for doing it during the holidays is there are an awful lot of agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays because of its association with traditional religion.” WHO CARES?
It is a very sad time when the faiths and beliefs of not only the majority of our country, but the fundamental principles of our founding fathers are put aside in the interests of the minorities. If we could go by the old “show of hands”, those of faith would rule by majority, the way it has always been and should still be.
By the way, I refuse to shop at any store that uses the “Happy holiday” thing instead of the “Merry Christmas” slogan. Christ is my savior and removing him from our society is what has already caused all the horror in our lives, why cater to those who live without faith and fear of GOD and make matters worse?
i agree with you 100% glen we need more people like you in this world
First I want to thank Glen for leading me here. This is telling it like it is. I’ll be sending this to my friends.
Praise God, and Merry Christmas to all!
God is good…plain and simple.
I too agree 100% with Glen Schulz, who I am glad pointed me to this bit of disturbing news.
Praise God, and let’s all make a difference by voicing our oppinion.
How vain are those that want to take Christ out of Christmas. Think about it what a wonder it is that the human heart can keep beating. Or the human body heal itself. Do you think we just fell out of the sky? I would get off a bus that had that as a slogan on it and then maybe the bus companies would lose business and realize voicing the opinions of the minority (on this subject) is not the thing to do. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL BUT STILL BE GOOD FOR GOODNESS SAKE!
Thanks Glenn, you are right on once again!
I hope that the non-believers can come to their senses and realize that there is a God and he is truly amazing. God bless all!!!
“Why believe in a god?” Good point. The one true God does not want us to believe in or worship false gods.
God is as real as the air we breathe! You just can’t see him.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 3
You’re the best Glen..
always upfront & honest.
MERRY CHIRSTMAS to you & your family!
This may sound trivial but its not! My God is spelled with a CAPITAL G. All other gods are spelled the way it says on there stupid posters. So I agree….Why believe in a god? I don’t believe in A god…I believe in God!!!
