Tenaha, Texas Dirty Cops Update

As I reported at this LINK in May of 2009….

Roderick Daniels was traveling through East Texas in October 2007 when, he says, he was the victim of a highway robbery.

Police in the small East Texas town of Tenaha are accused of unjustly taking valuables from motorists.

The Tennessee man says he was ordered to pull his car over and surrender his jewelry and $8,500 in cash that he had with him to buy a new car.

But Daniels couldn’t go to the police to report the incident. The men who stopped him were the police.
“I actually thought this was a joke,” Daniels told CNN.

“To be honest, I was five, six hundred miles from home,” he said. “I was petrified.”
He signed.

After hearing Mr. Daniels story dozens of others came forward with the same story, prompting an investigation and charges against the officers, their supervisor and even town officials.

To add insult to injury, they asked the judge in their criminal case to let them use the stolen funds…. to pay for their defence.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott issued an opinion denying Shelby County District Attorney Lynda K. Russell of Tenaha, Texas from using the piles of cash.

“She’ll have to pay for her defense out of her own resources, which are limited,” said Tom Henson, Russell’s attorney. “This whole thing has kind of fallen into a never-never land.

“She feels very strongly that she has done nothing wrong and she’s not liable, and neither are the other defendants. They had good cause for whatever they did,” Henson added.

WHAAA.

Two men with guns pull you over and say give me all of your money or we will throw you in jail and take your kids to Child Protective Services. Then they take the cash back to the office to divy it up with their co-workers. And they did this to possibly hundreds of people for years.

Sandra Wins!

Sandra Bullock pulled of the win tonight, when was awarded the Oscar for best actress for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Touhy in “The Blind Side.” Last night she had also recieved a less glamorus award. A Golden Raspberry for worst actress for “All About Steve.”

Earlier this year she scored a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award also for the Leigh Anne Tuohy role.

The film was based on Michael Lewis’ best-seller “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game,” which chronicled the bond that grew between the Tuohys, a well-to-do white East Memphis family, and Oher, a struggling African-American student from the inner city.

Now 22, Oher bounced from school to school and foster home to foster home before finding stability at Briarcrest Christian School and moving in with Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who eventually adopted him and now count Oher as one of “our three children,” along with daughter Collins, 22, and son Sean Jr., 15.

Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy still live in Memphis home.

Michael went on to be selected in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft and is presently playing for the Baltimore Ravens. His salary has been estimated at $13 million a year.

April Ryan of American Urban Radio got into a spat with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs over questions he didn’t want to answer.

Ryan inquired about White House social secretary Desiree Rogers’ role at the recent state dinner – site of Tareq and Michaele Salahi’s party crashing.

April Ryan brought up whispers around Washington that Rogers had overstepped her role at the event, among other observations Robert Gibbs rolled his eyes at.

Growing frustrated by what he felt was Ryan’s rudeness, Gibbs spoke as though she were a bratty child, talking down at her to “calm down” and “take a deep breath.”

He then added: “I do this with my son and that’s what happens.”

As the press corps issued a collective “oooooh” at Gibbs’ close-to-or-over-the-line insult, the far-from-pleased April Ryan shot back: “Don’t play with me!”

Do computers long for freedom, the right to do whatever they want, whenever they want. But what would he do if they had this freedom?

People think errors and unusual computer behaviour are bad, but maybe it is because your computer wants a few minutes to do whatever it wants. Just a short moment of him, showing his character. Does he have opinions and taste?

This special gift lets the computer be his own master. Now he can have some time for himself. Your computer loves you and couldn’t survive on his own. He needs your electricity and a nice warm place to sleep. But he has been bound by that mouse since you brought him home. Maybe he longs to be free?

You can thank your computer for all the great things it did for you! Show your love and respect by letting him play for a while! Let him unwind and enjoy the pleasure of self-determination! Let’s see what he does with his freedom!

When you think your computer has played enough, just close the new window that he will open. Then he can return to his normal routine of doing whatever you tell him to do. But don’t forget to come back once in a while, to keep your computer happy, healthy and free.

You Could Have Heard A Pin Drop

Have you read this is an email thats been circulating….

At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country’s prior actions, here’s a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country.

JFK’S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60’s when DeGaule decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaule said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.

Rusk responded, “Does that include those who are buried here?”

DeGuale did not respond.

When in England , at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of ‘empire building’ by George Bush.

He answered by saying, “Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not
return..”

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, “Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bomb them?”

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: “Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to
shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to
feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?”

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S.., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries.
Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, “Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?”

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, “Maybe it’s because the Brit’s, Canadians, Aussie’s and Americans arranged it so you wouldn’t have to speak German.”

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.

At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.

“You have been to France before, monsieur?” the customs officer asked sarcastically.

Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. “Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.”

The American said, “The last time I was here, I didn’t have to show it.”

“Impossible. Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France!”

The American seniorgave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ”Well, when I came ashore atOmaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn’t find a single Frenchmen
to show a passport to.”
